A History of Britain is a BBC documentary series written and presented by Simon Schama and features a study of the history of the British Isles, examining a particular period and tell of its events in his own style. The show spans a timeline from 3100 B.C. to the sixties of the 20th century.
The first episode takes us back to ancient times, even before the Romans arrived in what they called Britannica, to ancient Orkney, where indiginous people already established a civilisation. Yet this episode also covers the Roman invasion, the arrival of the Anglo-Saxons and the Viking raids up to 1000 A.D., a time when there was heavy fighting going on over the British Isles.
