Blood of the Vikings is a BBC documentary series hosted by Julian Richards, whose passion is the Vikings. He pursues the goal of finding out who the Vikings really were and tracing their legacy on the British Isles.
In the fifth and final episode, Richards tells the epic and bloody tale in which the English and Norwegians fight over the English crown, ultimately bringing the story of the Vikings to an end. The Vikings had been a powerful force ravaging through Europe down to the Middle East for over 200 years, so their sudden disappearance baffles many historians and scientists. What exactly happened in the 11th century that made the men from the north vanish into thin air? We will also take a look at the results of the DNA tests undertaken by scientists all around Britain to determine if any direct descendents of the Vikings may be pointed out today.
